The model numbers RA30 and RA40 may be new, but these 28 and 38 tonne payload articulated haulers are instantly recognisable, having been based on decades of engineering experience to deliver new benchmarks in performance, power and reliability.

Rokbak’s origins date back to 1934 when Euclid created the world’s first true off-highway rear dump truck, the Model 1Z. Manufacturing at the Motherwell factory in Scotland – the home of Rokbak today – began in 1950 when the Euclid Great Britain subsidiary was formed. Within just four years, Euclid had developed and built its 1,000th off-highway truck in Scotland.

In 1968 the earthmoving division rebranded to Terex and in 1982 engineers at the Motherwell factory designed, tested and manufactured the first ever Terex articulated dump truck, the 3204.

The company launched its well-known TA (articulated) range in 1998, introducing the iconic white livery. By 2011 the ninth generation of the TA articulated dump trucks – fitted with world-class Scania engines – was sold across the globe.

Undoubtedly the biggest leap forward for the off-highway truck product line came in 2014 when it was purchased by the Volvo Group and the new Terex Trucks division of Volvo Construction Equipment was formed. Since then, the Volvo Group has invested millions of pounds in the products, people and processes at the Motherwell factory, with incredible improvements made in just about every part of the business.

Investments in products, people and processes

New Stage V engines and an upgraded transmission, for example, have boosted fuel efficiency and performance, while the introduction of Haul Track telematics has helped customers to achieve greater uptime and profitability. In addition, the Motherwell factory is now powered entirely by renewable energy and has a science-based plan to further reduce CO2 emissions. There is a sharp focus on professional development to keep employees at the forefront of skill and expertise, while Dealer Operating Standards and training ensure the expanded dealer network delivers the highest level of service.

The rebrand of Terex Trucks to Rokbak signifies a new chapter in the story and the Motherwell factory’s vision for an exciting future. Under the new Rokbak name, the same skilled and passionate team remain committed to delivering industry-leading performance, power and reliability. Furthermore, the Rokbak RA30 and RA40 continue to be the most productive and efficient articulated haulers the company has ever made.

A sustainable and innovative future

Leveraging its strong hauling heritage, Rokbak has a clear vision for where it wants to go and who it wants to be. Over the next few years, the brand will seek to expand its reputation, dealer network and market share by delivering the most robust and reliable machines around with better fuel economy, lower emissions and high levels of safety. In this endeavour, Rokbak’s decades of experienced design, craft and precision will be key as it creates a new sustainable future based on innovation and the power of its people.
